Come, Follow Me

As most of you know, the curriculum for the Young Women program will be changing in Januray.  We will be ditching our old manuals for a new idea of teaching focusing on different doctrines of the gospel.  The program is designed to answer all of your gospel questions, while building your testimony of Jesus Christ and preparing you to enter the temple to serve missions and be married for time and all eternity.  As your leaders, we are so excited for this new program.  We know you have tons of questions, and we look forward to studying with you.

You probably have a few questions about how all of it will work.  When you get a second (or make a second!) visit the church website for more details or click on the link here

For the month of January,
we will be focusing on The Godhead
Some of the questions we will discuss in class include:
What do we know about the nature of the Godhead?
How can I know my Heavenly Father?
Why is Jesus Christ important in my life?
What are the roles of the Holy Ghost?
Who am I, and who can I become?

Click on each of the questions to find scriptures and links to talks / videos that will help you better understand each question.  We would love for you to find time in your personal study to dive into these questions.

During your sudies, if you have ideas on what you would like us to teach or have questions you would like for us to cover, please let us know.

We love you, and we look forward to learning with you.

Much Love-

Ginger Snaps!

Hey Ladies! I am so glad you thought these little snaps of ginger were delish! I am attempting to publish this via iPad, so do forgive me if it doesn't publish as pretty.

We had a great combined activity on Wednesday night making gingerbread nativity scenes! Thank you to all of you who came and supported our wonderful beehives! We missed those of you who couldn't make it!

Here is a recipe my dear friend, Kristin, and I made up for our Food Science class at Alabama. Hopefully it will leave you thinking, "Merry Christmas... and Roll Tide!"

GINGER SNAPS
1 cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 cup Molasses
5 cups Flour
1 1/2 Tbsp Ginger
1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp All Spice
1/4 tsp Salt

Preheat oven to 350*F.
Cream butter and sugar.  Add molasses and mix until smooth.
Combine dry ingredients in medium bowl.  Add flour mixture to molasses mixture. Blend until smooth.
Transfer dough into bowl and refrigerate for 2+ hours.

Roll out chilled dough on floured surface. Cut into cute shapes! Bake for 6 minutes. Let cool, then transfer to cooling rack.

|  You can top with cream cheese frosting
OR
place some Sugar in the Raw to cookies prior to baking.  |

Enjoy!

Education

Hey Ladies!

As some of you may know, Brother Salmon is finally graduating from college { only to pursue even more education! }, and we couldn't be happier.  I will be out of town this weekend for the graduation festivities, but I look forward to seeing you next week at mutual!

In For the Strength of Youth, it states:
"Education will prepare you for greater service in the world and in the Church.  It will help you better provide for yourself, your family, and those in need.  It will also help you be a wise counselor and companion to your future spouse and an informed and effective teacher for your future children.
...Maintain an enthusiasm for learning throughout your life.  Find joy in continuing to learn and expanding your interests.
...Your education should include spiritual learning.  Study the scriptures and the words of the latter-day prophets.  Participate in seminary and institute.  Continue throughout your life to learn about Heavenly Father's plan.  The spiritual learning will help you find answers to the challenges of life and will invite the companionship of the Holy Ghost."

I know that the value of education - both spiritual and temporal - will bless your life.  Continue to be faithful in pursuing your goals for education.  { click on the link to view a short video! }
